In-house Volunteers
Recipient of Services:
This service is directed primarily toward Casa's residents. Secondary recipients are Casa's staff.
Schedule:
Volunteers work a minimum of 3 hours per week. Hours are scheduled through the Director of Volunteers.
Provider:
Volunteers must be 21-years-old. They must be fingerprinted as directed by the U.S. Department of Justice and have a negative tuberculosis test as required by the County Department of Health. Volunteers must be non-judgmental and have an open and friendly attitude when working with teens in crisis. Creative listening skills are needed.
Description:
Volunteers supervise small group activities on-site and interact with residents whenever possible. Volunteers oversee recreational activities both on and off-site and participate in special events for the residents.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Ms. Ernestine Wright is the Volunteer Coordinator. She interviews prospective volunteers, oversees their paperwork and spends their first several volunteer hours with them serving as a mentor and guide. She reports to the Clinical Director.
Goals of Service:
In working with both staff and residents, volunteers provide structural support to the shelter.
