Description of Service:
Teen Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families (TCA) is a 12 Step group modeled on the successful Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) 12 Step fellowships. The group follows a traditional scripted format of opening with the Serenity Prayer, reading of ACA program materials, open sharing of group members and close of meeting.
Goals of Service:
Youth will experience a safe, non-threatening atmosphere free of the blame and shame of a wounding alcoholic and/or dysfunctional family environment. They will learn they are not alone, that they did not cause their parental drug or alcohol abuse, they cannot cure it and they are responsible for their own recovery. They will recognize and have available tools and processes to assist in recovering from the damage caused before become an "adult child".
